The Town Moderator is an elected municipal official entrusted with ensuring fair, orderly, and transparent public deliberation. They prepare for and preside over Town Meetings and voting sessions. This includes facilitating discussion, moderating debate, and overseeing the voting process. Elections and Town Meetings can consist of Town and School budgets, election of Town, School, and Federal officials, and local warrant articles. With a steady hand and deep respect for the democratic process, the Moderator ensures every voice is heard, parliamentary rules are followed, and the will of the voters is accurately reflected. The Town Moderator is an elected position with a 2-year term.
